ULEZ was expanded to all London Boroughs in 2023.

TfL reported 15.3% decrease in nitrogen oxides (NOx) in Croydon while particulate matter 2.5 (PM2.5) exhaust emissions from cars and vans in outer London were estimated to be 31% lower in 2024 showing that interventions work (https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cgq9nnj274xo)

But Croydon is still one of the worst areas and still exceeds WHO, World Health Organisation limits.

In 2003 Croydon Council declared an Air Quality Management Area (AQMA) for the whole of the borough. But a comprehensive air quality report has not been produced since 2022.

The majority of air pollution in Croydon is from road transport but another major source of pollution for the last few years has been the Beddington Incinerator which has had 916 breaches of emission limits between 2022 and 2024. Despite this Viriador, who run the incinerator, continue to be granted permission to increase capacity.
