We are an active group involved in many local campaigns. We meet regularly to keep updated, share ideas and socialise with like minded people.
We have lively WhatsApp groups and a large number of subscribers to our newsletter.
In 2020, Croydon Climate Action was founded to work in partnership with Croydon Friends of the Earth, specifically to work on local campaigns relating to climate change.
We are a group of passionate individuals who work with local councils, local organisations, schools and communities to ensure the future of Croydon is nature, people and climate-friendly.
Croydon Climate Action's core mission:
Working together to build a green and sustainable future for Croydon.
Engaging with the Croydon community in raising awareness of the climate and ecological emergency and leading and supporting on actions that will mitigate its impact.
Working with the local authorities and elected officials to help shape climate-related policy which benefits both the local environment and community.
Leading campaigns, hosting events, workshops and webinars that raise awareness of the climate and ecological emergency and showcase both our group and the community’s efforts to build a green and sustainable future for Croydon.

Léonie Osborne

What I have learnt in my lifetime of teaching and leading in Early Years education, is that connecting with nature builds children’s resilience, self-confidence, and social and communication skills. Their life skills! For adults too, time spent nature benefits our physical and mental health. In Croydon however, inequalities in access to biodiverse green and blue spaces and chronic air pollution impact most on the health and wellbeing of our most vulnerable communities. I work with Croydon Climate Action and a diverse range of groups and stakeholders to tackle these inequalities, by catalysing action to build healthy sustainable neighbourhoods where young and old alike can thrive.
Chris Connor
Chris' career was delivering IT programmes. Chris has been a long term supporter of environmental causes and has lived in Croydon all his life. Chris is passionate about Croydon green issues and Croydon Climate Action campaigns. Talk to Chris about walking and Crystal Palace FC.
Sam Baker
Sam has had a career in business and is now dedicated to climate action initiatives, running Walk2COP26 in 2021 and Walk2COP27 in 2022. He is an adviser to Business Declares and a trained facilitator in the Climate Fresk. Sam's primary motivations are to make up for decades ignoring and being ignorant of the climate emergency, and his two grandchildren. Seek him out for chats about veganism, CrossFit and Tanzania.
Becky Vicars
Becky is an artist from South Croydon. Her focuses are community engagement, inequality, ecology, pollution, and the relationships between these things. She is currently working with local colleges and community groups to provide eco-conscious workshops for students. In her spare time she likes to drink chicory coffee, make tapestries, and study bryology (moss!)
